COLUMBUS, Ga. —
Texting, web browsing, and talking- all of those things can eat up minutes on a cell phone plan and can leave you with an expensive overage bill. this week, we traveled to one local wireless store where contracts are outdated, and the word “unlimited” doesn’t mean a bill that will cost you an arm and a leg.
“It’s a good plan for people that love social networks, texts and they don’t have to worry about their bill being more than $50 a month,” says Kermit Anderson owner of Columbus Wireless off of Buena Vista Road. “I’ve got customers that come in and bring their number from another company, and they are paying $150 to $200 a month for just two phones. We can cut that bill in half,” he says.
Anderson says he opened Columbus Wireless eleven years ago as a T-Mobile distributor, but says he later decided to become a Boost select retailer. “I saw the market change. People not wanting contracts or be tied into something for two years, and we decided to go straight pre-pay,” Anderson says.
A pre-pay plan that works for customer Tiffany Johnson. “I like the customer service and the business, and I actually like the plan, and actually its closer to my home,” she says. Johnson came into the store to pay her cell phone bill. a bill that is just $50 a month. “There’s no rules or regulations and no penalties if you cancel or anything, it’s just great,” Johnson says.
Anderson says for about $100, you can get a new phone and an unlimited service plan that gets cheaper every time you pay it. “As long as you pay your bill six times, on time, it comes down $5 every month. it comes down to $35 a month- unlimited,” Anderson says.
For customer Eddie Horn, knowing exactly what he is going to pay each month is why he is switching from Verizon to Boost Mobile. “It’s convenient so I don’t have to worry about minutes. looking at my phone and saying, maybe I won’t answer the phone. now I know I can always answer the phone,” he says.
“Android is the big deal as far as phones go and they have over 200,000 apps,” says Anderson. the coupon available at Wrbl.com saves you $10 on any new phone and gets you a free accessory.
“There’s no credit check involved. There is no contract. all your responsibility is the $50 a month, and if you don’t want that, you don’t have to pay it. no penalties and no penalties for being late either,” says Anderson.
